Concerts at Handel House 2009
KEYBOARDS AND CANTATAS AT HANDEL HOUSE
Handel House and the London Handel Society are working together to perform all of Handel’s authenticated continuo cantatas and solo keyboard works during 2009. The London Handel Festival’s lunchtime concerts at St George’s Church, Hanover Square will each feature Handel’s cantatas, the British Harpsichord Society’s Weekend Events will feature some of the keyboard works and the rest of the music will be covered in the Thursday Live recitals at Handel House throughout the year. The Keyboards and Cantatas series has been co-ordinated by harpsichordist and early music specialist Julian Perkins.

Thursday 2 April 1pm St George’s Hanover Square Opera project concert Tickets: Free – book with Handel House in advance or just turn up Every year Handel House Museum and the London Handel Festival work together to run a project based on the annual London Handel Festival’s opera production. This year, focusing on Handel’s Alessandro, students from a London secondary school will take part in a number of composition workshops both in school and at Handel House followed by a visit to the Royal College of Music to watch a rehearsal of the opera. Join us for a public performance by the students at the end of the project and to celebrate their achievements. Run by Duncan MacLeod (Handel House Composer-in-Residence) with Claire Parker (Handel House Learning and Events Officer) and assisted by students from Trinity College of Music.

Drop in and listen to live baroque music all afternoon. You can also take part in a special Handel House Easter Egg trail, with chocolate egg prizes for all participants.
Tuesday 14 April 10am–6pm (last entrance 5.30pm) Handel House, 25 Brook Street 250th Anniversary of Handel’s Death Free admission for all On 14 April 1759 George Frideric Handel died in his sleep at 25 Brook Street. 250 years later, to celebrate the life and commemorate the death of the great Baroque composer Handel House Museum will be open free to visitors all day. There will be live music all day and the exhibition Handel Reveal’d will be open for all to explore. |
