The Handel Singing Competition was inaugurated in 2002 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the London Handel Festival. This annual competition is for young professional singers aged between 23 and 34.
The Society has always helped talented young singers by giving them performing opportunities throughout the thirty year history of the Festival. Many have gone on to very successful careers – Thomas Allen, Ian Partridge, Janet Baker, John Shirley-Quirk, and Emma Kirkby to name but a few. |
